Environmental Scientifics Group is the UK’s leading provider of testing, inspection and compliance services. Private equity-backed, the business is based in Burton on Trent and new Chief Executive Ian Sparks engaged Mallory Partners in 2014 to help build a robust management team around him.
Initially engaged to identify a new Group Financial Director, it quickly became clear that a strong cultural fit with the business and CEO would be a primary criteria for the search. Mallory Partners focused on getting under the skin of ESG, before researching and interviewing candidates who would not only be a technical match for the role, but would also bring something interesting to the table in terms of chemistry and appetite for a challenge.
Mallory Partners challenged ESG to embrace the idea of recruiting from outside the private equity market, having found a candidate from a corporate background who was an outstanding fit from both a technical and cultural perspective.
